School Vision
At Matata Public School we offer much more than schooling. Our aim is to widen the horizons of able young people through opportunity, challenge and achievement and inspire in them an excitement for life-long learning. In our friendly, caring atmosphere where everyone knows each other, there is respect and mutual trust.
Our school mission statement is "Our children will be caring and creative. They will recognise responsibility before right, treating others as they wish to be treated. They will develop a sense of self and adventure as they learn how to learn"
The relative smallness of the school gives real value to every young person so that he/she will enjoy a feeling of security, a sense of belonging and will develop a belief in his/her own worth. In a smaller school we feel there are far more opportunities for the development of leadership and participation in school teams.
Our classes are small and each child is given personal attention: the children are treated as individuals. Our learning programmes differentiate learning to meet the diverse needs of all children, and offer challenge at every level. We believe firmly that every young person has something valuable to offer and it is that unique gift in every child which should be nurtured.
We are committed to sharing the journey, providing the very best education for our young people. This is reinforced by our schools active parental involvement which encourages the school and home to work and act together. We believe it is important for children to know that the adults in their life are working together positively for their benefit.
